Ontario is where the Canadian supplement industry actually sits. Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area account for most of Canada's health product brands, wholesale distribution, and natural health retail. Population density, mature wellness retail infrastructure, proximity to US East Coast markets. Ontario is hard to beat as a launching pad for a Canadian supplement brand. Canadian regulatory context (NPN)
Ontario supplement sales fall under Canada's federal Natural Health Products Regulations, administered by Health Canada's Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate. Every finished NHP sold in Ontario (through retail, pharmacy, or DTC e-commerce) requires a valid NPN. The facility producing it needs a Site Licence. There are no Ontario-specific supplement regulations beyond the federal framework, but provincial business, labeling (bilingual English/French), and consumer protection rules all apply to commercial operations based in the province.
